APRIL 5, 2011: Around 100 guests celebrated a decade of service with a dinner catered by Alyn West, hostess at First United Methodist Church and served by members of the Mission Committee of FUMC. The event was one of recognition and remembrance. Shepherd’s Crossing opened its doors to its first clients on April 3, 2011. Since that date, the Crossing has at one time or other served 3,092 families including 8,510 adults and children. These families received $759,000 during 8,660 visits. These numbers do not include countless persons counseled and referred to other sources for help. Dave Lewis was his usual dynamic self as master of ceremonies. Rev. Jim Reed, retired Senior Pastor at FUMC and one of the founders of the Crossing, gave a meaningful keynote address in which he recalled the process which led to the creation of the organization.
